Picnic Afternoon Tea For Two | Gallaghers Cleethorpes

What better way to spend the Bank Holiday weekend than indulging in an afternoon tea? Gallagher's Cafe and Cakery invited me to try their new picnic styled afternoon tea. Tea & cake? Yes please.

It was a dreary Sunday afternoon, so my Mum and I hurried on in.

We were greeted warmly upon arrival by the friendly staff and invited to take our seats. We made ourselves comfortable and were offered a choice of drink. In which we replied, "Tea please!"
We mused over our cups of tea, served with cute ceramic milk jugs. Shortly after, our tremendous picnic afternoon tea was served.
The picnic afternoon tea is served on cute wooden picnic benches and wouldn't be complete without the traditional gingham check tablecloths. The picnic bench is full of generous treats so let's dig in!
All of the sandwiches and cakes served at Gallagher's are homemade; made daily by two talented ladies from the team.
For starters, we enjoyed traditional afternoon tea styled finger sandwiches. The fillings consisted of: egg mayo, cheese & pickle, tuna & cucumber and ham & tomato.
The sandwiches were served on a mixture of soft brown and white bread and were gobbled up in a flash! Be sure to leave room for cake...
The cakes were, by far, the stars of the show! The picnic afternoon tea comes with a generous selection of cakes to indulge in, including: soft and gooey double chocolate fudge brownie; lovely and delicate lemon love cake; sweet and rich billionaire slice; light and refreshing raspberry cheesecake and traditional softly baked scones, served with traditional fruity jam and gallons of cream. Not advised for people watching their waistlines! However, you can have leftovers boxed up if you are feeling a little bit too naughty.
I was happy to see the double chocolate fudge brownie make an appearance, as I have bought this numerous times from their famous deli (Delilicious), which is next door to the cafe.
This definitely deserved a close up. Look at that oozing fudge and chocolatey goodness!
My mum & I were delighted by all the cakes we tried. It's ok to eat this much sugar on the bank holiday right?
The cosy cafe was full of life, with friends and families indulging in cakes and gossiping over coffees.
Gallaghers Cafe and Cakery is a charming cafe filled with quirky wall art and decorative chandeliers.
More tea? Nothing was too much for the attentive staff.
As my Mum and I were so involved in chit chatting and munching on our delicious cakes, we hadn't realised that what was once a busy cafe had emptied.
The afternoon tea menu will be available everyday from 2pm, as of the 5th September so be sure to pop in and check it out!
Despite the miserable weather, we could still have a picnic and eat our cake too. My Mum and I thoroughly enjoyed our tasty picnic styled afternoon tea. We will certainly be back for more. All of the cakes are available to buy from Delilicious next door, so be sure to try some of their amazing homemade treats. I guarantee you won't be able to ignore their impressive counter.
Thank you for reading.
