The Fitness Update: December

Ahh December, the month of pigs in blankets, mulled wine and mince pies... It can be really hard to stay on track this time of year. Normally I'd be off the bandwagon and eating what ever my heart desires but since joining the gym (mid-November) I'm really into my fitness right now and getting back into superfoods again, so I want to motivate you to all stay on track!

I'm not specifically trying to loose weight, my main goals are to become fitter and stronger. I've never bothered weighing myself in the past, but this time I've measured myself and I can't wait to see the difference I will make! I've also been doing my homework on the best way to nourish my body and I'm currently experimenting with protein powders- I'm a new woman.

The Routine I Will Be Doing In December:

I ditched running last month because frankly, it's just too cold & dark for that shiz!! I'm on such a gym high right now and I'm discovering so many new gym classes. I have recently joined my local Virgin Active and I must mention how friendly and welcoming all the members of staff and other gym goers have been. I've been going to the gym as often as I can because I'm enjoying it that much. Classes I've been loving so far are Yoga, Body Pump and 24. I'm not sure if class 24 is exclusive to Virgin Active but damn this class is tough! The instructor really motivates the class and pushes you all the way. It's only for 24 minutes but your muscles will be numb once it's over. All these classes cover the bases of fitness including cardio, toning, flexibility and strengthening. Also I've been enjoying swimming 3x a week. Hurray for me, for not just hiding out in the steam rooms and saunas (my pores may look better, but my shape certainly won't ha).
 I know it isn't possible for everyone to join the gym but if you are really wanting to make a difference in your fitness, I would highly recommend Virgin Active as they are so welcoming and tailor workouts that are best for you. If you are unable to get to a gym, check out some of their 20 minute workouts at home - that require no equipment here.

Ok, I have never in my life been known as a 'Bielber' *shudders* but seriously Justin Bieber's new album is so catchy! I'm not a huge fan of the guy, but you've got to give him credit for his recent catchy songs. I've particularly been enjoying listening to 'What Do You Mean' and 'Sorry'.

The Recipe To Try Out:

If you have been following me on Instagram you will know I've been loving Acai Bowls at the minute. It's what breakfast dreams are made of. An Acai Bowl is basically a really thick smoothie that has an almost ice-cream texture, except it's super good for you! Acai Bowls are usually topped with various toppings such as dried fruit, seeds, nut butters and fresh fruit. They are basically one big hit of superfoods in a bowl and they taste deeelicioussss. I wolf down one of these nearly every morning as they are super quick and easy to make.
