The Sirtfood Diet

The Sirt Food Diet, which includes chocolate and red wine, is the regime that everyone is talking about in 2016. The Sirt Food Diet is a revolutionary plan for health and weight-loss. It claims 'lose 7 pounds in 7 days!' I have been keeping you all updated on following the 7 day plan on my Twitter & Instagram so I thought I would update you with the results and my experience.

My Mum and I stumbled across this diet in the Daily Mail and noticed it also featured in our latest edition of Cosmopolitan. After reading all the claims and checking out the delicious meal plan we thought we thought we'd give it a go to kick start the New Year!

I'm not one for faddy diets. In fact, I've never been on a diet ever. The Sirt Food Diet boasts incredible health benefits. Sirt rich foods are plant based 'wonder' foods that turbo charge weight loss and did I mention you can enjoy red wine and dark chocolate! (Basically the 'Sirtfoods' are the new 'Superfoods' guys!) So of course I was intrigued...
Other Sirt foods include: blueberries, parsley, walnuts, rocket, celery, chilli, kale, apples, buckwheat, capers, extra virgin olive oil and red onion. Most of which can be found in our kitchen cupboards already which is a bonus!

I started this diet with the intention of starting the new year on a healthier note. After checking out the yummy meals the diet had to offer on the 7 day meal plan, I was straight online putting the ingredients into my basket. The majority of the ingredients were readily available at my local supermarket, a couple of exceptions were easy enough to pick up from Holland & Barrett. Kale me up!

The Diet:

For the first 3 days of the meal plan you have 3 green juices a day. This then goes down to 2 a day for days 4-7. You get to enjoy at tasty meal which is rich in Sirt foods each night, along with some tasty lunch recipes and an amazing Sirt muesli recipe.

The Juice:

2x handfuls (75g) of kale, 1x (30g) handful of rocket, 5g parsley, 2-3 stems (150g) celery, juice of 1/2 a lemon and half an apple. For the first 2 juices of the day add half a level teaspoon of matcha powder.

The Meal Plan:

Day 1:
Sirtfood green juice (three times a day)Prawn stir-fry with buckwheat noodles for evening meal.

Day 2:
Sirtfood green juice (three times a day)Turkey escalope with sage, capers, parsley and spiced cauliflower 'couscous' for evening meal.

Day 3:
Sirtfood green juice (three times a day)Aromatic chicken breast with kale and red onions and a tomato and chilli salsa for evening meal.

Day 4: Sirtfood green juice (twice a day) Sirt Muesli and Salmon fillet with caramelised chicory, rocket and celery leaf salad for evening meal.

Day 5: Sirtfood green juice (twice a day) Strawberry buckwheat tabbouleh for dinner and Miso-marinated baked cod fillet with stir-fried greens and sesame for evening meal.

Day 6:Sirtfood green juice (twice a day) Smoked salmon Sirt super salad for dinner and chargrilled steak with a red wine jus, garlic kale and herb-roasted potatoes for evening meal.

Day 7:
Sirtfood green juice (twice a day) Waldorf salad for dinner and roasted aubergine wedges with walnut and parsely pesto and salad for evening meal. (I forgot to snap these two meals, apologies.)

Overall I thoroughly enjoyed the meals included in the 7 day meal plan and I would highly recommend The Sirtfood Diet. From steak to muesli, the dishes were very flavorsome and filling! The recipes were also super easy to make! All of the meals took less than 30 mins to prepare and cook. I loved that the recipes used a lot of the same ingredients so nothing was wasted.
I completed this 7 day meal plan as part of a balanced lifestyle and I lost a total of 3 pounds. My mum, who also took part in the diet lost a total of 5 pounds. I must admit, towards the end of the diet the juices did become tiring. We are both guilty of skipping juices towards the end, so we didn't stick to the diet exactly. Although neither of us lost the full 7 pounds, I'm still really impressed with the results over the week. I think it's not bad going considering we both indulged in a few *too many* glasses of red wine with plenty of dark choccy!

Have you tried The Sirt Diet?

Thank you for reading.

    1. how did you get on with your 7 day? I have just started mine - I found cutting lemon juice right down helped the bitterness of the green juice.

    1. Perhaps try adding less parsley as it can be quite bitter ? x

    3. Grapes work an absolute treat, you don't need all that many to increase the sweetness significantly - red grapes are a sirt food as well!
