My Latest Superfood Craze: Kombucha

If you know me, then you will know that I'm guilty of jumping on every 'superfood' bandwagon! Lemme tell you, I'm a sucker for anything advertised as being super healthy and right now, Kombucha is my latest craze!
I'd heard of Kombucha before, through healthy lifestyle bloggers/vloggers, but they were always picking up theirs from various health food stores in London. Being as I wasn't able to pick up some in my local supermarket, I kind of forgot about it! Until, I found a local Cleethorpes gal brewing her own booch. When I came across her Insta, I knew I couldn't wait to try!

So what is Kombucha?

Kombucha is a probiotic beverage made from fermented black or green tea. The fermented tea is created by using a colony of bacteria and yeast - sounds kinda gross, I know! But, this drink contains a variety of vitamins, minerals and enzymes and has been prized by traditional cultures for its health promoting properties such as: powerful antioxidants, boosts energy, supports a healthy gut, aids digestion, reduces cholesterol, lowers blood sugar levels and can help to detoxify the body and help protect against disease.

Due to fermentation, Kombucha becomes carbonated and it kinda tastes like cider! I highly recommend drinking it chilled and even adding a couple of ice-cubes, then you really do feel like you're drinking a cold one. It's a perfect health conscious alternative to beer or wine - cheers
